Gandhian Engineering

Gandhian Engineering
An approach “defined by frugality and a willingness to challenge convention,” according to The Economist, who used the term to describe how Tata Motors is building its super-cheap Nano car.

The term seems to have been coined by Anand Giridharadas who suggested in The New York Times that “just as the Japanese popularized kanban (just in time) and kaizen (continuous improvement), Indians could export a kind of Gandhian engineering.”
